Evan Wyler has just finished a photo session with his shirt off. No, he's not a supermodel; he's a twenty-something New York writer savoring the success of his debut novel. Defined by the media as the "hot-young" thing-of-the-moment, Evan captures the attention of Alexa Vere de Vere, a black-clad woman of mystery who's made the world of celebrity her home. In fact, it's her religion. Maybe she's a record producer, maybe she's a film agent; what is clear is that she wants Evan to write the screenplay of her life story. Just spend time with me, she says, and you'll learn all you need to know. To Evan, who is gay, it's like an invitation into the world of Auntie Mame, Sally Bowles and Holly Golightly all rolled into one. But once Evan fools himself into believing he loves Alexa, she vanishes, leaving him to foot the bill for all the dinners and Armani suits they've gone through. Trying to find Alexa, Evan discovers a chain of people who have fallen under her spell and acted as her meal ticket. For Alexa has no money, no job, no life of her own—only the one she's created for herself. As Alexa puts it: "You're not the person you were born—who wonderful is?"

One of the most provocative plays n2t has done in a long time, SNAKE IN FRIDGE is a thriller hailed as AMITYVILLE HORROR meets BOOGIE NIGHTS, and inspired in part by Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House. Six young Canadians working in the sex industry find themselves in a house that may or may not be demanding human sacrifice... or perhaps there're just too many narcotics involved! This eerie play weaves itself through a dark underworld of the grotesque as these young people discover that sex, drugs and violence may not be the only evils in their lives.

 FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY!!!!
Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent!!!!

Prepare yourself for the Arizona Premiere of one of the most strikingly beautiful and theatrical plays the Valley has ever seen: Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses. Set in and around a large pool of water (which acts as a symbol of change), this Tony award-winning play is Broadway auteur Zimmerman’s adaptation of 10 myths by the Roman poet Ovid, all with a common theme of transformation. Ancient and contemporary mix together in the swirling waters of theatricality to become something completely unique and powerful... beautiful and sad, funny and insightful, antiquated and modern… as we transform the Little Theatre into a watery Agean, don't miss the most incredible production of the season… and prepare for your own ‘Metamorphoses!’

A shepherd family journeys from Sonora through the desert to Phoenix to see the newborn Jesus. Yeah, yeah, we know, Jesus doesn’t live in Phoenix, but word is there’s a new light rail line that’ll connect ASU’s downtown campus to Bethlehem soon. Satire, parody, slapstick, and just the right touch of reverence inspire this modern adaptation of the 500-year-old Christmas “miracle play”. So don’t be surprised when our hapless shepherds run into the likes of Catherine Anaya, Alfredo Gutierrez, Danny Ortega, Russell Pearce and the Minutemen or a curandero who talks to God through his I-Pod. Oh…and lest we forget…El Diablo!

Special cameo appearances by Catherine Anaya, Johnny Dilone, Danny Ortega and others.

A holiday play for your entire familia!

This play is un poco and just a little bilingual. English-only aficionados are welcome.

Into the Woods blends familiar fairy tales with the story of a childless Baker and his Wife, who catalyze the action of the story by attempting to reverse a curse on their family in order to have a child. In the first act, the characters set out to achieve their goal of living "Happily Ever After" through familiar routes - Cinderella goes to the Ball and captures the heart of Prince Charming, Jack climbs the Beanstalk and finds a land of Giants and Gold, Little Red Riding Hood survives her clash with the wolf at Grandma's house, and Rapunzel manages to escape her tower with the aid of a handsome prince who climbs her long hair. The Baker and his Wife move through their stories while pursuing their own goal - the witch who keeps Rapunzel (revealed to be the Baker's sister) has put the curse on his house, and agrees to lift it if the Baker and his Wife can find the ingredients to help the Witch reverse a spell which has made her old and ugly. At the end of Act I, all characters seem poised to live "Happily Ever After". Act Two, however, deals with the consequences that traditional fairy tales conveniently ignore. What does one do with a dead Giant in the back yard? Does marrying a Prince really lead to a happy and fulfilling life? Is carving up the wolf the solution? Is the Giant always wrong? In Act Two, all the characters must deal with what happens AFTER "Happily Ever After".

"An Unusual Love Story-David and Lisa" was previously a fact-based, psychoanalytic novel, a stage play, and a 1960's film. Scorpius will be the first to abstract "David and Lisa" into the realm of contemporary dance.  The intense fairy-tale-of-sorts tells of two people who meet in a mental institution.  After a series of events, an unlikely attachment is developed between the two volatile individuals.   "An Unusual Love Story--David and Lisa" promises to be as enlightening as it is entertaining, complete with original music by Kris Hill and Ryan Breen, original choreography by Lisa Starry.

Tell your children! Warn them of the danger! A new drug has emerged that will undoubtedly destroy the youth of America and send us spiraling into sin, debauchery and death. Try it just once, and you are doomed! Have no doubts, friends and neighbors, Marijuana has found its way to our shining shores... and may God have mercy on our souls! Based on the 1936 propaganda film, the Arizona premiere of Reefer Madness is a zany musical romp through the politics of yester-year... or is it the politics of today? You’ll laugh yourself silly as a conservative nut-job acts out his own morality play about young Jimmy Harper, who has his normal, all-American life destroyed by the deadly, wicked, evil new drug known as “reefer.” REEFER MADNESS is intended for mature audiences only, containing drug use, adult themes & language, partial nudity and a subversive political agenda.
